By Kevin Ash 7: It might bear the name of the definitive sports bike from the Sixties, but if any modern machine carries on the spirit of the original, it wears the GSX-R tag of Suzuki. Instead, the new Hinckley Bonneville is these days a gentle machine suited to relaxed riding and those new to big bikes. The first Hinckley-produced Bonneville was if anything too gentle, its cc, parallel-twin motor feeling unenthusiastic to the point of lethargy.
That was in For this year, the 50th anniversary of the first Bonnie, the engine has grown to cc and, with some gentle development over the years, has a more satisfying, relaxed yet muscular feel. This is a bike aimed at those more interested in style and an easy ride.

If you have an old Triumph motorcycle that has never been registered, or one that the DVLA do not have any records for, and you wish to retain the original or obtain an age-related registration number plate then you need this service.
Back in , the DVLA started computerising vehicle registrations. Before then registrations were carried out by County Councils or Borough Councils, but Centralised Registration pulled all these records together onto a computerised system. Of course, many registrations were lost or not transfered by the various councils, and when all the old records had finally been entered by about there were still many vehicles that were not on the new register.

Dummy carburettors , which are actually redesigned throttle bodies made to resemble carburettors, have been added to the models to retain the original vintage styling of previous years. From , all Bonnevilles received a slightly larger and reshaped tank to accommodate the EFI pump, but the tank capacity was not altered. Even though US models were not injected they still received the larger tank, therefore the space for the pump was not used.
All the bikes in Triumph’s current “Modern Classics” line are derived from the new Bonneville, including the SE with a smaller front wheel to be marketed to riders who may have found the 19′ wheel too tall , T , Thruxton , Scrambler , America , and Speedmaster.

Triumph converted some standard cc machines to cc for racing, and as the years have rolled by these have become increasingly valuable machines. Unfortunately, a lack of official records has made that impossible — until now, as Motorcycle Hall of Fame Executive Director Mark Mederski tells us in the following note. Recently the list, probably complete, was discovered in the AMA Homologation files that were transferred to the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum about 20 years ago.

My books show the 67 with monoblock carbs. If you have the concentrics carbs, fine threads on the rocker bolts, lower breather and alternator wires, it’s probably a 68 unless the carbs have been changed out in which case it could be a Coarse rocker box threads and top exit for breather would be a 69 or The carbs were secured to the adaptors the spigots that screw into the head with nuts and bolts until 69 when the bolts were changed to pressed in studs in the adaptors.
There was a phenolic insulating block between the carb and intake adaptor on the 68 and 69 that is not shown in my 70 parts book. I don’t know if this was or was not on the 70’s.
